LITURGICAL READINGS

ADORE: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.—1 Peter 1.3

ADMIT: For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?—Romans 7.18, 24

ASSURE: Who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification…When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”...But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.—Romans 4.25;  1 Corinthians 15.54-55, 57

BIG IDEA: BECAUSE OF THE RESURRECTION NOTHING IS THE SAME

1. REVEALING OF THE RESURRECTION—MARK 8.31; 9.9, 30-32; 10.32-34; 16.6-7

  • Jesus’ most unique revelation throughout his life is revealing His own Death & Resurrection

  • Jesus is not crazy, but knowledgeable & strategic

  • Jesus knew about texts like…

    • Gen 22; Job 19 Ps 16; Isa 53; Jonah 2

  • To understand we all need to die

2. REALITY OF THE RESURRECTION—MARK 16.1-8

  • Reality demands we follow the facts

  • Facts reveal women come not expecting the resurrection

  • Ancient and apostles are just as skeptical as we are

  • Be careful of “Chronological Snobbery”
